Hi everyone! My name is Anessa Golden, and I am the Class of 2027 school counselor. Here is a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Artesia and graduated from AHS in 2000.
I attended Eastern New Mexico University and received my Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. I have a Master's in Education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master's of Science in Education in School Counseling from the University of the Southwest.
I began my teaching career in Hagerman, teaching high school English. I taught in Hagerman for four years. In 2010, I began teaching English at AHS. From 2010 to 2021, I taught English at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels. In 2021, I began a new chapter in my educational career as a school counselor at AHS.
While attending ENMU, I met my husband, Casey, and we have been married for twenty years. We have three boys: Caden, 19, who is attending South Plains College, Mason, 16, a sophomore at AHS, and Owen, 11, a sixth grader at ZIA. The boys are actively involved in 4-H and FFA and show animals at the county, state, and national level.
I am excited to be your counselor for the next three years and witness all that you will accomplish!
