A Message from Our Principal

Hello Parents and Students,

Welcome to Artesia Intermediate School! As principal, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will accomplish this by setting high expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. By addressing school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increased academic expectations for all students, and engaging the community, it is our goal at Artesia Intermediate that all students are prepared for the next stages of their lives.

In order to raise student achievement, parental support and involvement is crucial. Research shows that parental involvement has a strong influence on the success of your child. AIS encourages you as a parent to keep open lines of communication with your child by maintaining family time, sharing common activities, and enforcing consistent rules that help your child learn the relationships of independence and responsibility that they will have as a sixth and seventh grade student. Show them that education is important by encouraging homework, reading, and engaging in their classes.  If these components of parental involvement occur, your child will be that much closer to accomplishing his/her educational goals.

As students, I encourage you to get involved in extra-curricular activities.  AIS has outstanding athletic teams, activities, and clubs.  Your experience at Artesia Intermediate School will be that much better if you become part of our bulldog family through these activities.  We will work, perform, and learn like champions!

Artesia Intermediate School is committed to working with you and your child by providing him/her the best education possible. We are willing to do whatever it takes to help your child be successful. Artesia Zia Intermediate School is “beginning the bulldog tradition”.

Please feel free to contact me by email. You can also reach me by phone at (575) 746-2766.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or any AIS staff if you have additional questions. I am looking forward to working with you and your students as we work toward an academically successful year. It’s great to be a bulldog!

Sincerely,

Halee Goff
